Sunday Sep 01, 2019
Sunday Sep 01, 2019
A disciple isn't a pro-Christian or the heavy-duty version of a follower of Christ...a disciple is a Christian. However, we might not all be on the same page as to what disciple means, is or does. When we think "disciple" we need to think three words Discover/Desire/Do

More & More | Part Six | Light A Candle | Patrick Doherty
Monday Aug 26, 2019
Monday Aug 26, 2019
When it comes to church it's so easy (and tempting) to criticize. Honestly, there's lots to criticize - it's kind of low-hanging fruit. However, when we remember that the organizing principle of the church is that we're a group of imperfect people who are being remodeled by Christ, it changes things. It's kind of silly to point out all the unfinished parts of a home that is being built. In the same way, it's counterproductive to walk through the church with a negative, cynical mindset. Instead, as the church, we're called to pick up tools and build this thing!

There aren't many things that we want to think about less but that influence our thinking more than death. What we believe about what is next has a huge impact on how we behave now. What would our lives look like if we truly lived with hope?

Sometimes we want Christianity to be simple, easy-to-follow, turn by turn directions. However, Discipleship is often directional. We navigate toward Christ-likeness through the particulars of our own lives. Learning how to plot our course toward Jesus.

More & More | Part Three | Asking the Right Question | Patrick Doherty
Sunday Aug 04, 2019
Sunday Aug 04, 2019
We probably don't often ask - "Why do the right thing?" But when we don't often have a good answer past, "...because it's right." The New Testament almost always talks about something different and it's often the difference between making it and messing up.

More & More | Part One | What We Don't Know | Patrick Doherty
Sunday Jul 21, 2019
Sunday Jul 21, 2019
The church in Thessalonica, by all accounts, should never have made it. Paul had come to the city to start a church but accidentally started a riot and got chased out of town after just a couple of weeks. All the good church-planting manuals will tell you that this isn’t going to last.
Yet when Paul hears from the brand-new Christians, not only are they still hanging in there, they’re thriving! Join us as we explore the, qualities, beliefs and practices that are the different between disciples barely making it and and making a difference!

Incredible Jonah | Part Four | Mercy & Fireworks
Sunday Jul 14, 2019
Sunday Jul 14, 2019
Jonah is so much more than a children's story. In fact, most of the made-for-kids version of Jonah don't even make it to the final chapter and that's where the real action happens. There's a critical question for us here - how do we handle God's grace and mercy in the lives of people we don't think deserve it?

Incredible Jonah | Part Three | Being Good at Being Wrong
Sunday Jul 07, 2019
Sunday Jul 07, 2019
With what has to be the shortest, most powerful and, arguably, least enthusiastic sermon ever preached, the mightiest empire on earth repents. Our inability to admit we're wrong has to be one of the quickest ways we derail our relationship with God. God isn't looking for perfection, He's looking for repentance.

Incredible Jonah | Part Two | Waves & Breakers
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
Sunday Jun 30, 2019
There is nothing in the history of literature like Jonah Chapter Two. According to the story, Jonah is composing complex, epic Hebrew poetry, from inside the digestive tract of a huge fish.
Unfortunately for Jonah his poetry is kind of overlooked in the sea of questions like - Can a giant fish really swallow a man out? Is the bible always literal? Was it a whale or a big fish?
Jonah viewed this near death experience as a gift from God and it's here where he discovers the faithfulness and mercy of God.

Incredible Jonah | Part One | You Can't Catch Me
Sunday Jun 23, 2019
Sunday Jun 23, 2019
(Due to some technical difficulties the first 3rd of the message wasn't recorded. But don't worry, there's still lots of good stuff here! You'll be joining us in about verse 3.)
The book of Jonah is unlike anything in scripture. It’s a sophisticated piece of literary genius packed with wordplay, metaphor and nuance. Unfortunately, that mostly gets overlooked because people tend to dismiss it as a children’s story about a fish.
Here’s the deal - Jonah is designed to slowly reel you in and then punch you in the moral gut. If we’re not careful, it has the power to change our lives.

Patrick Doherty, Mike Ward | Are We There Yet?
Monday Jun 17, 2019
Monday Jun 17, 2019
The number one most asked question on a road trip is - "Are we there yet?" We all want to have a sense of progress. We want to know if we're getting close to our goal. Discipleship is no different. If we can't see the finish line it's easy to get discouraged. We are going to use our recent Mexico Mission Trip to highlight how discipleship isn't only about progress but perseverance. (Due to technical difficulties, Paul Maynard's part of presentation wasn't recorded. You can track him down in person and get a recap.)

Sunday Jun 02, 2019
Sunday Jun 02, 2019
Anytime we walk into a church service we are often seeing the "floor model" version, everything is well lit, put together just right and looks inviting. However, real church is more like bringing home a box full of parts that needs to be put together (Ephesians 4:15, 16) It can be messy and difficult and it is totally worth it.
When we celebrate Graduation Sunday we are taking a real-life look "what ever joint supplies".

Feelings of confusion, discouragement and being overwhelmed aren't uncommon for Christians. If these are left unchecked we can find ourselves on the verge of giving up on church, faith and even God.
Here's the truth, there is hope! Paul the Apostle points us to something we need to do or gain but to something we already have!

Begin Again - Part Three - Scared to Death - Patrick Doherty
Sunday May 12, 2019
Sunday May 12, 2019
We have a pretty strained relationship with death. The English language has about 100 different wants to avoid even saying the word. However, one of the basic ways the resurrection of Jesus should transform our lives is without our relationship with the Great Unknown. If Jesus came back, we can believe we will too.

Begin Again - Part One - The Resurrected Life - Patrick Doherty
Sunday Apr 28, 2019
Sunday Apr 28, 2019
There's a pervasive misconception that Christianity is mostly about keeping some difficult, maybe impossible and definitely outdated, rules. But that idea doesn't come from the Bible itself. The early Christian writers had experienced an incredible shift in what life was all about. The resurrection life is not about achieving something that needs to be done, it’s about adjusting to something that has already been done.

King & Kingdom- Part 6 - The King is (Still) Here! - Patrick Doherty
Sunday Apr 21, 2019
Sunday Apr 21, 2019
Most of us have experienced tragedy that deeply affected us and made us shift our thinking about the world and the way it works. As a result, we may have become guarded and more fearful. Jesus spoke to people that didn’t think the world was the way it should be and he gave them what, at first glance, seems like strange advice.
He told them that the way to a better life was by “serving everyone”, “loving your enemies” and even “losing your life”.This doesn’t just seem counter-intuitive, it seems crazy. But Jesus was about to do something that validated the crazy things he taught people to do. Jesus was going to shift the world once again.

Jesus continued to live the values of the Kingdom right up till his death. What we discover is that even death can’t stop the impact of this way of life!
